About Find a fitter aims to put homeowners looking for a new kitchen, bedroom or bathroom in touch with professional fitters from across the UK. started in 2004 as a forum for kitchen, bedroom and bathroom fitters.  Over a short period of time the forum gathered self employed installers from all over the country. The main topic of conversation was usually our employers; MFI, B&Q, Homebase, Wickes and the like. For anyone viewing the forum they would quickly realise how professional the members were. Not just in the way they conducted themselves online but in the way they conducted themselves in their day to day business.

Kitchen and bathroom fitting involves a multitude of skills. These days it isn’t enough to be able to turn your hand to another trade, you have to be qualified and belong to a trade organisation.  It wasn’t uncommon to find carpenters and plumbers who, over the years, have up skilled to become qualified electricians and GasSafe approved installers. For those that work for the large national companies they would also have to prove that they held comprehensive insurance and CRB police checks. The installer would also have to provide two to three year workmanship warranties and hold licences to transfer waste. It became apparent that the Findafitter forum was made up of a group of skilled multi-trade professional kitchen, bedroom and bathroom installers.

At we realised that the majority of kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms sold by the big national companies were installed by our members who would receive a percentage of what was paid by the customer for installation. A rather large portion would be paid to the company as an ‘admin fee’, which at times could be many hundreds if not thousands of pounds.  Our site aims to save the homeowner these costly administration fees by providing a means of contacting the fitters that work for national companies directly. also has a forum where homeowners can discuss a range of topics with fitters such as design ideas and problems, quality of products (which ones to avoid) and any other DIY related issues. The site also has a members section where fitters can update their profiles and discuss work related topics.

So, welcome to! We hope you find your fitter to help create your dream home.
